Prompt to Register

regmenu.gif (8946 bytes)

When the programme starts a new session, it will display a prompt to register unless the registration status on the machine is OK.

You can also reach the registration procedure by going to Menu / Help / Register. Inappropriate options are disabled there, such as if registration for use without a dongle (Option 1) is already OK, or if no dongle is attached, or if a dongle dongle2.gif (923 bytes) is attached and the Dongle Access Code (Option 2) is already OK.

Requirement to Register

Registration ensures that the user is authorized by Jaspell (and the customer) to use the latest "Major Version" of the Jaspell Jaldi software installed on the computer. A change of "Major Version"  (e.g. Version 6..... to Version 7....., but not 7.0.1 to 7.0.3) requires the customer to purchase the upgrade with its new access code(s) from Jaspell. Minor upgrades (e.g. 7.0.1 to 7.0.3, but not Version 6..... to Version 7.....) can be downloaded and installed free of charge. Similarly, an increase in the range of languages covered by the software will be classed as a major upgrade.

Use with a dongle will be limited to 9 sessions on any particular machine, if a current Dongled Access Code is not registered on it.

A Customer's
Licence Options

(See Considerations)

Option 1.   A customer can obtain from Jaspell a unique licence for each unique machine where he wishes to use the Jaldi software.

Option 2.   The customer can obtain in addition  transferable dongle hardware devices dongle2.gif (923 bytes) and a transferable Dongled Access Code.

Option 3.    In the absence of registration for use without or with a dongle the software will only run in a restricted mode - no printing, etc.

Option 1 donglex.gif (979 bytes)
Fixed Unique Machine Licence

*     From Version 7 onwards, a licence ‘keycode’ can be supplied which is unique to a machine's setup at the time of installation.
*    The licence only enables use of the software on the machine to which the keycode relates.
*     Separate licences are required for each machine on which the software is to be used.
*     If Jaldi finds that the setup on a machine has changed and does not match the licence keycode, a revised code is needed.

Option 2 donglev.gif (992 bytes)
Transferable Dongled Access Licence

A dongle dongle2.gif (923 bytes) is a  transferable hardware ‘key’ device that the user attaches to a computer, so the Jaldi software will be fully enabled.
It needs to be accompanied by a transferable Dongled Access Code that is relevant to the Customer, the language range, and the "Major Version" of the software being run. This Dongled Access Code can be installed on several of a customer's computers - at the office and at home, say - but it will only enable use on a particular computer at a particular time when a dongle has been transferred to it. (See Proxy Access Codes.)

The Registration Procedure

Registration For Use Without a Dongle
donglex.gif (979 bytes)
STEP 1 You send Jaspell the two lines (B and C) of code information created by the registration enquiry on your machine.
STEP 2 When Jaspell have received your payment, they send you an activation code line (A).
STEP 3 You install the activation code (A) by following the registration dialogue again.
Registration For Use With a Dongle
donglev.gif (992 bytes)
STEP 1 You send Jaspell a line (D) of code information created by the registration enquiry on your machine.
STEP 2 When Jaspell have received your payment, they send you a Dongled Access Code line (E).
STEP 3 You install the Dongled Access Code (E) by following the registration dialogue again.

Note on Proxy Access Codes
A customer's Activation Code (A) for a unique machine will also proxy for a Dongled Access Code (E) to enable full use with a dongle on his various other machines. The customer may prefer to control the use of his machines with the help of the separate Dongled Access Code (E). However, also note that a customer's transferable Dongled Access Code (E) will not proxy for the Activation Code (A) that is required to enable full use on a unique machine without a dongle.

Considering The Options
From October 2004 Jaspell's Unique Machine activation code procedure allows the earlier high cost of dongles to be avoided by a customer who only needs to use the software on one machine. On the other hand, dongle users enjoy transferability of access to many of the customer's machines at no further cost beyond the initial price of 1 software + 1 dongle. Extra dongles can be supplied by Jaspell, if a customer wishes to use more machines at the same time than (1)  the machine holding the Unique Machine registration, and (2) the machine where the first dongle happens to be.
